At the United Way of the Big Bend, our work has only increased as families in poverty and the working poor find themselves at even greater risk.
It is this current backdrop of need, bolstered by UWBB’s statewide research and facts on what we call the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained Employed) population, that our board voted on July 2, 2020, to support the need for a Children’s Services Council (CSC) in our community. This Fall, Leon County voters will decide whether to use their tax dollars to create such a council. It will be the community’s decision; still, our board’s vote signifies that families and children in our region need your help and we believe the UWBB can be a part of that solution through a CSC.
