One of UWBB’s unique roles in the Big Bend community is connecting people and organizations together with volunteer opportunities. We rely heavily on volunteers to make an impact in the communities we serve. Below are ways that you can get involved.

 

Community Investment Team Member

Community Investment Team! UWBB relies on a Community Investment process to distribute funds to service providers, and it’s 100-percent volunteer driven. These groups of volunteers are known as Community Investment Teams. Anyone in our community may volunteer to assist with the funds-allocation process. Reality Store and Poverty Simulation

Reality Store is a financial simulation where students are assigned careers and make decisions about their budget and lifestyles. The Poverty Simulation is designed to help participants gain an understanding of what it is like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month-to-month. The Poverty Simulation provides an opportunity to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income individuals and families while also exploring ways and ideas they can help be a part of the solution.
