TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 16, 2015 – United Way of the Big Bend launched a week-long celebration of its investors, volunteers, sponsors, and agency partners from May 18th until May 22nd. Each day this week was dedicated to visits or calls to our partners to thank them for their help over the past year, be it through working to raise funds for the campaign or volunteering with one of our initiatives. Over 2,000 randomly selected donors received thank-you calls from UWBB staff and board members throughout the week. The full schedule of activities follows:
- Tuesday, May 19th: Education Celebration for Read United and Reading Pal volunteers
- Wednesday, May 20th: Thank You calls to donors and partners
- Thursday, May 21st: Loyal Contributor (donors who have given to UW for 10+ years), Leadership and Major Gift Donor Thank You
- Friday, May 22nd: Sign Waving at 4 locations in Tallahassee
“We are so grateful to everyone in this great community, our volunteers and the thousands of people who are our generous donors — from school children to retirees, for a wonderful campaign year,” said Katrina Rolle, President and CEO. “Every dollar is important — we carefully apply these funds to help those through out our eight-county region.”
Because of their caring, more than $4.6 million was raised to help those in need. That deserves a huge THANK YOU and that is what our “Thank-a-Thon” is all about. One of our clever ways of saying thank you was posing outside at our corporate sponsors’ locations, striking poses and having fun saying thank you. We posted pictures on our Face Book page … thanking those businesses in our community that chose to LIVE UNITED.
The Thank-a-Thon is designed to reach out to donors, volunteers and partners to thank them for their support for the 2014 Community Campaign and outreach efforts. Funds raised from this campaign are invested back into the community to support health and human-service programs from 39 certified agencies across the Big Bend.
People throughout the Big Bend continue to do what they can to support their community even during tight times. Whether it’s giving $5 a pay period, being a Leadership Giver ($1,000 or more), speaking out in support of community issues, or volunteering precious time to help local efforts, we’re proud to take today to thank everyone for the many ways they LIVE UNITED. We salute YOU!
