Since 1943, United Way of the Big Bend (UWBB – formerly United Way of Leon County) has been serving the people of the Big Bend. It was chartered by a handful of concerned citizens of Tallahassee for the purpose of raising and distributing funds to charitable and character-building agencies. On June 20, 1990, United Way of Leon County changed its name to United Way of the Big Bend and incorporated the seven surrounding counties of the Big Bend region into its service area.

 

UWBB has had several names in its history since 1943, most recently United Way of Leon County. In 1992, UWBB agreed with Volunteer Big Bend (formerly Volunteer Tallahassee) for VBB to merge with UWBB.
